Red-browed Finch

Red-browed Finch

Male finches have a delightful way of advertising for the breeding season. They find as big a stem of grass as they can conveniently handle, then perch somewhere prominent, waving it vigourously and singing loudly. This translates, in human terms, to something like "hey, good provider, steady job, not bad looking - what do you think girls?"
