Bridge

Bridge

The old bridge over the Avoca River at Archdale is a favourite of mine. The length and height of the bridge seems impossible to explain. Yes, when the tiny little Avoca River floods it turns into a vast sea of water for a few days before it dissipates, and this bridge would be a little higher than the water level — but to what end? The road on either side is far lower, so no-one could have crossed on it anyway. No matter: it’s a beautiful bridge and not a bad spot for Shrike-tits, Brown Treecreepers, and various others.
