South-central NSW seems to have an extraordinary ability to provide sunsets of spectacular beauty. The western Riverina and the Hay Plains almost never let me down. This shot, chosen almost at random and entirely unprocessed apart from resizing to fit on this page, is as good an illustration as any.

Most people think that the endless drab grey Hay Plains are as unattractive a landscape as Australia can offer. If you feel like that, just wait a while ..... then lift your eyes.
