I hear a lot of comments about this picture; about half don’t like it, but then others find it striking and interesting. I am still in two minds about it myself — it is an odd picture — but on the whole I like it.
Perhaps this is because the picture, like the scene I saw on that wild spring day when the giant Victorian floods arrived, seems so contradictory. In the midst of massive storms and horizontal rains appeared this momentary island of serenity: cattle grazed as if nothing had happened; the sun broke through for a few moments; only the wind continued. Moments later, it was gone and the downpour resumed.
