It is only when you see one of these tiny pockets of magnificent remnant growth that you are reminded of the broad ecological disaster which underlies the part of Victoria we call Gippsland. Yes, Gippsland makes wonderful dairying country, but the cost has been very, very high. Scenes like this one are hard to find, and weed invasion from the surrounding clearfelled land is often severe.
