This harmless looking frog, quite large but by no means unusually so, was floating in a puddle just as you see. We sat there for some time watching two tiny Nutmeg Mannikin nestlings being fed by their parents. They were far too young to be out of the nest; presumably the storm overnight had blown them out of their tree.
A few minutes later, one nestling wandered close to the puddle and, to our astonishment, was attacked by the frog, which very nearly succeeded in eating it. Frantic efforts by the nestling saw it escape, but only just. I would never have expected a frog to eat a bird!
