Myrtle, one of our resident Tasmanian Native-hens, has an obsession with nest building. Every year she builds a nest to hatch her youngsters in, plus at least one other nest to use as they grow up. Nearly always she uses the floating island I made to put in our dam for the ducks to sleep on. It’s only a small island and day by day Myrtle adds more nest material, and more, and still more. Eventually, it topples over and she has to start again.
