This is quite possibly a real Rock Dove, not the ubiquitous Feral Pigeon. Sri Lanka is part of the Rock Dove’s natural range. It is critically endangered, largely because of interbreeding with Domestic and Feral Pigeons. This bird has the right plumage and is nest-building a long way from the nearest town or city.
