
This is what native grassland looks like. Hardly anyone has seen it, as more than 99 percent of southern Victoria’s native grasslands have been destroyed. One by one, the tiny remaining patches which have by some miracle escaped the plough, the bulldozer, the boomspray, and the ravages of overgrazing are still being removed for the most trivial of reasons, often by well-meaning people who simply don’t know what they are doing.
