Woady Yaloak River

Woady Yaloak River

This reach of the Woady seems like a pretty scene on first sight, but is in fact an environmental disaster area. Nearly everything you can see is a weed, from the introduced grasses everywhere to the Hawthorn, pines, poplars, willows, and Gorse that now grow along the river. Only on the ridge at upper left does anything remain of this once-beautiful scene: two or three ancient Candlebarks (Eucalyptus rubida) have somehow escaped the chain saw and survive among the feral pines. When they die, nothing will be left.
