Grey Currawong

Grey Currawong

Both the Black and Grey Currawongs are common here. They can be quite hard to tell apart at first sight because the Tasmanian race of the Grey Currawong is mostly jet black. Their calls and behaviour are very different. The Grey is more wary, less melodius, and is usually seen in flocks of half a dozen to a dozen, but sometimes hundreds. The Blacks are mostly seen in pairs, readily become tame, and carol beautifully.
