Late in 2013 I caught dengue fever in (of all places!) suburban Brisbane. It can be a slow recovery and I did very little for most of 2014. I did manage to meet a few nice creatures on my way back home to Ballarat, and a little bit of easy stuff with waterbirds later in the year.

For a bird photographer, water birds are an easy go-to anytime you feel that you haven't done much lately. Living in Ballarat back then, the magnificent Lake Wendouree was always worthwhile.
